Are you concerned about your own memory or how to care for a memory-impaired loved one? Erin K. Spring, board certified music therapist and executive director of Central Ohio Music Therapy, returns to BPL to discuss how music can support memory care. Erin will share how music therapy and the Music and Memory(R) program can be used to address issues faced by patients living with memory related diseases and their caregivers. She will also share resources and simple ways to use music for taking care of yourself and your loved ones.
Erin Spring has been a practicing, board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) in central and southeast Ohio since 2007 and founded Central Ohio Music Therapy in 2010. Erin is a neurologically trained music therapist serving a variety of populations including the terminally ill, individuals with autism and developmental disabilities, geriatric adults, patients receiving obstetric and general hospital care and children experiencing grief. She holds bachelor and master degrees in music therapy from Ohio University, and interned at the Music School Settlement and the Cleveland Clinic Palliative Medicine Unit. Erin is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and the Association (AMTA) of Ohio Music Therapists (AOMT). She currently serves as the co-chair for the AMTA Music Listening Workgroup that provides support to music therapists developing music listening programs and advocating for safe and effective music listening experiences. She also services as co-chair for the Ohio Music Therapy Task Force seeking licensure in the state of Ohio to increase access to music therapy services for Ohioans. Erin enjoys advocating for music therapy through presentations to local organizations, agencies and businesses.
Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
