About the Exhibition:
Food for Thought: A Taste of the Canton Museum of Art Collection
Food is woven into our everyday lives. Food for Thought: A Taste of the Canton Museum of Art Collection examines what we eat, how we eat it, and who we eat with, creating an intimate look at the role food plays in American art and culture. The pieces in this exhibit reflect a rich history of art, agricultural, and cultural traditions that have shaped how we engage with food today. Come gather around our table and let’s celebrate the art of food!
On exhibit at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio from September 27, 2025 - January 4, 2026
About the Curators:
Kaleigh Pisani is the Curator of Collections & Registrar at the Canton Museum of Art, where she manages the care, interpretation, and growth of the museum’s collection. Pisani’s curation is driven by curiosity, a love of storytelling, and a belief that art is most powerful when it resonates with the lives of those who engage with it. Her writing has appeared in American Art Review.
Growing up, Pisani developed a personal connection to food by cooking with her mother and learning the culinary traditions passed down through her Italian family. For Pisani, food is not just a subject in art -- it's a language we all speak, and one that reflects what we eat, how we gather, and the rituals that shape us.
Kate Hatcher is the Curatorial Assistant at the Canton Museum of Art, where she uses her background in art history to support the Curatorial Department in research, organization, and implementation of exhibitions and collections management, and contribute to the storytelling goals of exhibitions.
She hopes the themes within Food For Thought will resonate with many because food plays a major role in our lives and in human connection, helping us to learn more about each other and our various backgrounds, and to make meaningful connections with art.
