Bexley Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, December 31st, and remain closed on Thursday, January 1st for the New Year's Holiday

Safety and accessibility improvements—along with construction of a new Outdoor Reading Room—are now underway at Bexley Public Library’s Main Street entrance. This collaborative project with the City of Bexley and Torat Emet Synagogue will create welcoming outdoor spaces for reading, relaxing, and gathering, including areas for performances and programs, as well as expanded landscaping for the community to enjoy.
Yes. Although the Main Street/front entrance will be closed during construction, Bexley Public Library will remain open during normal business hours.
Monday-Thursday | 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Friday-Saturday | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday | 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Visitors will use a temporary, fully accessible entrance via a ramp located in the alley on the southeast side of the building. This ramp will lead to the library’s dock entrance. Clear signage will be posted to guide visitors.
Parking will continue to be available in the East Parking Lot. During construction:
Yes. The book drop will remain open; however, vehicles will not be able to pull up directly in front of it. A designated short-term parking space will be available nearby for convenient drop-off.
Construction is expected to last approximately 3–6 months. We anticipate reopening the Main Street/front entrance by May 1, 2026.
This project is a collaboration between Bexley Public Library and the City of Bexley, with an estimated total cost of $1.5 million.
No significant changes to the building’s façade are planned. All improvements will be consistent with the library’s historic character while enhancing safety and accessibility. The Mother and Child statue and the library’s iconic brass front door will be preserved and incorporated into the new landscape design.
Thank you for your patience and support as we work to improve access, safety, and outdoor gathering spaces for the Bexley community.
