We're celebrating the founding of Bexley by learning more about Main Street! Larry Helman will take us on a historical tour of Main Street and describe how it developed and changed over time.
Step back in time with the Bexley Public Library and the Bexley Historical Society as we commemorate the founding of our beloved Bexley on August 10, 1908! Historical society trustee Larry Helman will take us on a tour of Main Street and its businesses as it has developed and changed through the decades. We’ll also enjoy refreshments generously offered by the Bexley Historical Society in celebration of Bexley Day.
Presenter Bio:
Prior to his retirement, Larry Helman was a partner at NBBJ where he managed an extensive number of major planning projects globally. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1970 and a Master’s of City and Regional Planning in 1972 from The Ohio State University. He and his wife Kay are the parents of two Bexley High School graduates. Larry is very active in the Bexley community and has served on many committees and boards, the Bexley Historical Society, Southwest Bexley Steering Committee, Tree and Public Gardens Commission Board, Bexley Education Foundation Board of Governors, and Bexley's Architectural Review Board.

Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
