Prepare for the upcoming solar eclipse and explore the science, theories, and wonders of our universe with faculty and students from The Ohio State University Astronomy Department. Dr. Wayne Schlingman will present on Eclipses and Why They Enthrall Us. Attendees will receive a pair of eclipse glasses, while supplies last, thanks to a grant from the Space Science Institute STAR Net program. Outdoor stargazing with telescopes to follow the presentation, depending on the weather.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Wayne Schlingman is the Director of the Anne Slettebak Planetarium and Director of Undergraduate Studies for The Ohio State University Department of Astronomy. Dr. Schlingman joined OSU’s Department of Astronomy in 2014 as the Director of the Arne Slettebak Planetarium. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona where he worked with Ed Prather and the Center for Astronomy Education (CAE) doing research on the teaching and learning of general education introductory astronomy and Yancy Shirley studying star formation via dense gas tracers in the Milky Way galaxy. Dr Schlingman most recently won a 2023 Community Engaged Practitioner Award from the Provost's Office.

Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
