In The Pause Principle: How to Keep Your Cool in Tough Situations, renowned corporate communications expert Cynthia Kane reveals her tried-and-tested SOFTEN practice to better handle awkward, difficult, or tense conversations at work by breaking free of automatic reactions including shutting down, running away, yelling, or getting passive aggressive or defensive. Cynthia Kane is the CEO and Founder of the Kane Intentional Communication Institute, LLC, and her work will teach you how to have more calm interactions in every day life - from your home to the workplace.
Her newest book is The Pause Principle: How to Keep Your Cool in Tough Situations (Wiley, 2025). She is also the author of How to Communicate like a Buddhist, Talk to Yourself like a Buddhist, and How to Meditate like a Buddhist, and was named by Yahoo as the #2 Communication Coach to watch in 2021. Cynthia has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bard College and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Sarah Lawrence College. She grew up in Bexley, and now lives in Washington, DC, with her family.
Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
