Singer-songwriter Parker MacDonell hosts a monthly concert series featuring performances from local songwriters around Columbus. From seasoned performers to up and coming artists, join us on the third Thursday of the month to celebrate the art of songwriting and listen to original music performed by local musicians.
About the Performers:
Host Artist Parker MacDonell has been using his original songs, voice and acoustic guitar to communicate with audiences for years. A veteran of the Los Angeles club scene and college student unions across the United States, Parker was named “Best New Artist of the Year” by the listeners of Pete Fornatale’s Mixed Bag show on New York City radio station WNEW. He picked up a bushel of stories by playing bass for Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley during his California stint. He has released four recordings: Miracle on Broad Street with Matt Munhall (2017), The Present Tense (2012), Looking For You (1985) and Home to the Heart (1983).
February Guest Artist:
Matt Munhall is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and recording artist based in Central Ohio, currently serving as the Director of Music at the Church of the Resurrection in New Albany, Ohio. His signature sound is a rich tapestry of American roots music, defined by a powerful foundation in Blues and African-American Gospel, tightly woven together with Jazz improvisation, Folk storytelling, and Pop sensibilities. While he has a prolific history as a touring musician and independent artist, his current focus centers entirely on private composition and parish music ministry.
Bexley Public Library
Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
