To mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, join Ohio State historian Clayton Howard as he discusses the history of the Gay Rights Movement from the 50s to the present day.
This June marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riot that marked the birth of the modern LGBT rights movement. It is also the 4th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark decision on same-sex marriage, Obergefell v. Hodges. Come hear Ohio State historian Clayton Howard talk about the history behind these two important events. He will talk about the homophile societies during the early Cold War, gay liberation in the late 1960s and 1970s, lesbian feminism, the AIDS crisis, and the push for same-sex marriage at the end of the twentieth century.
Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
