More about the Columbus Youth Jazz Girls Project
The Columbus Youth Jazz (CYJ) Girls Project is a dynamic month-long ensemble celebrating female and gender-expansive students in jazz. Led by saxophonist Mercedes Chomos and jazz vocalist Rachel Azbell, the project offers an engaging space to explore jazz repertoire, style, and improvisation. Open to students in grades 7-12 and collegiate music students, it focuses on skill development, confidence, leadership, and women in jazz history. This project is generously supported by PNC Arts Alive and AWS Community Builders Fund.
