The Big Table is a community-wide day of conversation. Through intentional dialogue and connection, participants are encouraged to imagine the next steps toward a kind & just future for central Ohio.
The Big Table® is a community-wide day of conversation sponsored by The Columbus Foundation. Through intentional dialogue and connection, participants are encouraged to imagine the next steps toward a kind and just future in central Ohio. Meet new people, share our lived experiences, discuss issues that impact our lives, and discover ways to connect with neighbors to work toward building a kind, connected community in Bexley where everyone has a seat at the table.
Amid an epidemic of loneliness and isolation in our society, it is essential to prioritize opportunities for meaningful connection. The Big Table is an invitation for community members to connect, knowing that we don’t have all the answers, but by actively listening and engaging, together, we can acknowledge and address challenges and opportunities. By fostering a culture of curiosity and kindness, we can enhance our individual and collective well-being, opening doors for stronger social bonds and a more connected, resilient community where everyone has a seat at the table.
This year's "The Big Table" community conversation is co-hosted with One Bexley around its mission to "deliberately and comprehensively bolster our community culture to ensure that Bexley is welcoming and provides a sense of belonging for all community members and visitors."
We hope to see you around our Big Table!
About One Bexley:
The One Bexley Project was formed in the context of a community that has grappled with racist incidents and systems throughout its history. A joint initiative of the City of Bexley and the Bexley Public Library, with support from the Bexley City School District, One Bexley is an interactive educational and community-based program to ensure that all people are welcome in our community. Through events, discussions, and community-wide engagement, One Bexley aims to provide programming that addresses the historical, structural context of past incidents that have scarred our community, and empowers our community to disrupt similar events in the future. We are constantly reminded that there is work to be done to more purposefully build a community free from racism and prejudice, where all residents and visitors are valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
