Join Karen Bokor, the City’s consultant to the Architectural Review Board, and Larry Helman, Bexley Historical Society Trustee, for a presentation about Bexley’s magnificent architecture.
Bexley is an architectural treasure! The beauty and charm of its residential neighborhoods reflects an inspired era in residential architecture that is both timeless and enduring. The period between 1910 and 1930 saw an explosion in popular architectural styles that coincided with the development of Bexley as a first ring suburb, an alternative to living “in the city.” Come and explore with us the evolution of architectural styles from the early beginnings of Columbus and its newly created downtown to and beyond the rapidly developing Bexley area between 1910-1930. You will also learn how to “deconstruct” architectural design: what are the key elements and composition of a design that make it appealing to the eye and what principles and rules help create harmony and balance (both for a specific house as well as within the context of its neighborhood).
Co-presented by Larry Helman of the Bexley Historical Society and Karen Bokor, staff consultant to Bexley’s Architectural Review Board. The talk will be held on April 29 at 7:00pm in the Bexley Public Library auditorium. We ask that you register your attendance in advance via Bexley Public Library’s website or with a staff member. The talk will be live streamed and recorded on BPL's YouTube channel for future reference. We look forward to seeing you there!
Library Parking & Entrance Information:
While the library's main entrance is under construction, we remain open. Clear signage will guide visitors to a temporary, fully accessible entrance via a ramp in the southeast alley, leading to the dock entrance.

Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
