Celebrate the end of African American Music Appreciation Month with a performance of music composed by Black artists performed by Urban Strings Columbus featuring storytelling from Bobby Norfolk.
Join us for a special performance by Urban Strings Columbus featuring music composed by Black artists in celebration of African American Music Appreciation Month. The Urban Strings Columbus performance will be followed by African folklore and storytelling by the internationally-renowned, Emmy Award winning storyteller Bobby Norfolk. This performance is great for patrons of all ages!
About the Performers:
Urban Strings Columbus is a youth orchestra located in Columbus, OH. Our orchestra is comprised of young talented musicians from Columbus city, charter, suburban, and private schools. Learn more about Urban Strings Columbus here.
Bobby Norfolk is an internationally known story performer and teaching artist. Norfolk is a three-time Emmy Award winner, multiple Parents' Choice Gold and Silver Award winner, and a National Storytelling Network Oracle Award recipient. Bexley Public Library was founded in 1924 and first housed in Bexley High School, now Montrose Elementary School. The present building opened in 1929 and was designed by architects O.C. Miller and R.R. Reeves who drew upon French and Italian architecture from the 17th century for the design.
The library is located at 2411 East Main Street, at the intersection of East Main Street and Cassady Avenue. Parking is available in our parking lot on Euclaire Avenue and in front of the library on Main Street. Main Street is a No Parking Tow Zone from 4:00-6:00 p.m. weekdays.
