About Amy Haggard:
Amy Haggard, The Makist, turns vibrant colors, playful patterns, and organic shapes into abstract paintings, handmade jewelry, and accessories. Color is her happy language, and she explores elements of nature in her simplified graphic style. Her work is constantly evolving through experimentation, but it is heavily influenced by her background in graphic design and art education. Working mostly in acrylics on canvas and wooden panel, Amy strives to make work that spreads joy.
Amy was born in Columbus, Ohio where she resides with her husband, four kids and dog. She graduated from Ohio Dominican College after studying English and Visual Communications while playing softball. She worked briefly for a local design and promotions company, but returned to school to obtain her teachings license. Amy taught elementary art for five years in the Columbus City Schools, but left teaching to stay home with her kids. Once her kids were in school Amy created The Makist to share her love of making art.
Note: This program is geared toward adults. While kids ages 8 and up are welcome to register with their adult at their adult's discretion, due to limited supplies, we cannot provide any painting supplies for kids who are not registered to attend the program.
If you would like to register a group of 8 or more people, please call the library directly at (614) 231-2793 or email Leann Schneider Webb at lschneider@bexleylibrary.org.
