Emma Strange, MORPC Mobility Coordinator, discusses public transportation options for older adults and how the LinkUs mobility initiative will expand transportation options and improve accessibility.
Community Conversations: Building Community Around Aging is an ongoing series that takes a look at pressing issues going on around central Ohio and how they relate to older adults. From housing and medical costs to gardening and healthy eating, we'll explore new topics in each program with featured speakers in a relaxed social setting. Coffee and light refreshments will be available at each program.
This month's topic: Transportation & Mobility Around Columbus
Driving shouldn’t be the only way to get around. Therese Dyer and Ernestine Jackson, AARP Ohio Volunteers, will engage in conversation with representatives from Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) and COTA to discuss public transportation options for getting around Columbus. Learn about the recently passed LinkUS Columbus program aimed at expanding mobility options and which routes and transportation options will work best for you. This is part 1 of our transportation discussion. Part 2 will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 1-2:30 PM and will cover Active Transportation: Walk, Bike, and Trails with MORPC, focusing on mobility and walkable communities around central Ohio. Don't miss the opportunity to join us for an interactive mobility audit of East Main Street with MORPC mobility coordinators on Friday, March 28 at 10:30 AM, register here.
